another problem on this site is when people make rec lists here they just end up checking the artists the most people rec or are the most familiar to them

so like every rec me metal list just ends with some pleb checking out like opeth for the first time

RYM is great for lists and discovery, just don't take them as seriously as they take themselves.

What I do is explore the charts, but a lot of it's super popular stuff, which isn't a big deal but I'm trying to get unknown artists. Might try rym.

RYM is a good platform for lists, the recent ratings tab that lets you see random ass records, and how comprehensive its library is by connecting similar artists and side projects to other bands. ITs community is horrendous and its design is oddly against discovering anything that isnt super popular unless curated by user lists.
