Love Gore (3)
And ohms
and this one. As a relatively new (not wedded to certain albums as much as some fans) - but also an old fan - (so i got around the fur when it came out in the mid 90's and also white pony, but then didnt return to the band until just before ohms dropped and then got all the missing back catalogue - Might also be why i really rate Gore too? Dunno.)
- This new one might even be my favourite album of theirs!!

I love every single Deftones album, bar Adrenaline, which I only like.

I would honestly add S/T to that pile but there’s a few songs there that are absolutely among their best… even Adrenaline has a couple. Bored is the perfect first song for these guys, I adore Birthmark as well, and Fireal and Fist close it perfectly.

"not yet really clicking for me. I'm team Ohms for now in the debate for 2020s 'tones."
Welcome aboard!

I've never really spent much time on gore but the self-titled is beautiful

Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event is a top 10 song fs
Idk if I could say that about anything else there. Team Sleep was out around the same time and that’s by far the better album imo

S/T is just so damn heavy and dark. Minus a couple uninteresting tracks I'll never understand why its so underrated.

Fantano literally described this album in the exact way I would have and gave it almost the same score, with his opinion of cut hands being the only point where I disagreed with him. My mind is a mountain, more like my mind is a melon.

Oh damn did he finally review it? Before even watching I'm guessing he gave it a light 7

Good review but his cut hands take made me facepalm hard

I get his 'they were just trying to throwback to Around the Fur' angle but I thought they did it pretty tastefully with cut hands, the riffs were enjoyable and Chino's rap-like vocals were on point, the chorus was solid too.

This is growing to become easily my 2nd fav behind Diamond Eyes but almost even overtaking it. Absolutely love this album

I'd imagine anyone who loves Diamond Eyes will also love this one, seems the closest match.
Also, Fantano's score looks exactly right to me, this is better than Ohms...no one is convincing me it's better than 'Around the Fur' or 'White Pony'.
Consistent album though, with a few highs that are a bit lower highs than on their peak period albums.

don't care about fantano but I would definitely put cut hands as the weakest track on here.

I've listened to the third song close to ten times now and while I don't think it's in any way jarring nothing ever sticks from it for me, so that would be my pick :/

"A 4.4 is wild. Nothing groundbreaking here, just Deftones playing it safe."
Agree, nothing groundbreaking, just them sounding their best in eons.
