It’s the whole get there first rather than do it the best sort of journalism that plagues modern society I’d imagine

I love putting the previous EP on and having it run straight into this album back to back to make a full hour. The 43 minute runtime really feels too quick with this one and I think the songs all serve eachother well back to back. Love this album

It was surely in jest, no?

hmm, hazarding a guess without conducting comprehensive research (or any research really, but the subject has been discussed before) I could imagine death metal has a marginally higher proportion of heavy hitters as debuts, as many bands flame out fairly quickly

so many bands (all genres) call it quits after an album or two, which means the further you go, the less likely it is to find 'their best' later on. The % of bands with widely regarded 6th albums or whatever, is therefore rendered automatically unlikely and at an inherent disadvantage

of course this is all subjective, also

Yeah I was kinda joking, I don't think it's the case generally of course!

2nd or 3rd albums just seem more statistically likely to produce greatness (logically), refinement of a formula / process, or whatever etc.

maybe one day (when I'm unbelievably bored) I'll conduct some actual research on the matter, lol

but yes in this case, Starspawn >
