Yeah there's still plenty newer metalcore acts I think are doing good too, not genre defining or anything in my opinion but super solid. Nothing beats TDEP, ETID, Converge, Misery Signals, Zao or even super old-school like Training for Utopia/Rorschach/Deadguy etc.

frontierer are nuts big fan of their last album. this dropping the ball for me got me very in the mood for that record and it slapped me around for a very fun day. it is their best and i wish i got to it when it came out

My only thing against Frontierer is I don't think their albums need to be 50-60mins long especially for how unrelenting they are. Would serve them good to have some sort of break from the ferocity or trim the fat just a little.

Only new stuff I really listen to is by old bands. Some stuff like this slips through

With ETID, TDEP and such calling it quits it really sucks. I know Misery Signals didn't quit but their last album was so forgettable that I actually did forget they even made a new one.

We still got Zao. I'm still pulling for one more Living Sacrifice album too

It honestly amazes me how Zao is still not only going this strong but arguably in some ways writing their best material yet. Not as a whole per-say in my opinion but a lot of songs from their newer works I'd put in their best material. Like R.I.P.W. ? fuck that goes

Dan's voice is among the most iconic in the genre, hope they've still got some more records in the tank.
Modern-core definitely still has hits to crank out, but is guilty of over-saturation, as are many genres nowadays tbh

I regret making this thread as personal and off-the-rails as it became, but it's very difficult at times to tell where supposed personas begin and end, what's meant to be a joke and what isn't, especially when I don't often see enough of a contrast to make that determination. Banter is def what this site is about and maybe I'm not the best at interpreting it, but I felt like some stuff goes too far in the wrong direction.

Was listening to A Parade of Chaos earlier and thinking about how cool his voice is.

Only person who comes close to nailing that style is Jimmy Ryan, and to be fair, he's pretty damn good at it, especially on Trenches' material.

ultraviolet isnt amazing but it has aged better than i thought it would. jammed it like a month ago and dug it more than i ever did on release. kicking karl still an abysmal move that makes them look kind of like asshats tho
zao's dope but i feel like they never dug aaaas deep into me as those other bands bar blood and fire, but they for sure have a fun and colorful catalog full of many bangers. parade of chaos, fear and virus are my other tops from em
the best band from the old days for me was prob poison the well and i would kill to have them back fully
