I'm really enjoying the hype surrounding this, it's fun

"I'm quite surprised at how many people are liking this"

Same. I'm really surprised it's being received as well as it is

sounds the same production wise, but is more of a regular prog metal album compared to this

Only thing that bothers me is that the lead singer sounds like he's blowing his O-ring whenever he tries to push his voice. It legit makes me think of someone straining on the toilet.

He's really bad on. Nobody which is a shame because the song is actually pretty good otherwise. The opening song is ridiculously bad too.

Cosmic may unironically be my song of the year.

Cosmic definitely is the most important track on the album, it's just weird it's sandwiched in the middle. Feels like a closer

Agreed. I mentioned earlier that I felt this could have worked better as an EP (hell release 2 EPs) so Cosmic theoretically being the "closer" for a 5-track EP would have really made an impression as it feels like the climax to what the previous 4 songs started.

Listening to the second half of the album and you can make an easy argument that this album is 2 separate halves rather than a cohesive whole.

yeah, i said that and figured i feel like that can't be the sole reason since this band definitely will always have a trademark a7x sound that comes with them but ya never know.

I feel like his pushing of his voice sounds a lot better now than back on City of Evil. That is unlistenable for me nowadays.

@Christ yeah your original comment made me think that. Bands need to be ok making short EPs, the format is always underutilized. They could've used the ep for the more off kilter songs and had their more traditional songs on the actual album. Like Mattel, Nobody, Cosmic could be legit LP songs for them (they are obv, but I mean in the hypothetical.)
