this really fixes a lot of the problems i have with the last 3 albums. where diamond eyes is simple to the point of predictability and being boring these songs have so many different cool hooks in the instrumentals and the songs evolve in a lot more interesting ways, and where koi is a minefield of either some of their best songs and stuff like fucking graphic nature every other track, this is incredibly solid all the way through. and obv production is fixed tremendously but this is on the whole a bigger return to what i like about them than id initially thought

Loving the little ambient passages they've thrown into some of these tracks. E.g. Error, Spell of Mathematics, Pompeji and Headless.
Like a blend of S/T and KNY.

I really like the shift in tone when the t/t kicks in. Overall this has a nice atmosphere, but the songs weren't that remorable on my first listen

Complete opposite for me. I love Deftones for their melodies and skyward choruses and this has very little of that. I can't say I saw the ending of Royal coming, or the chorus of Prince. This doesn't have many 'wow' moments by comparison, nothing really threw me off balance on this. And Graphic Nature is maybe the dullest song on KNY I don't really get the hype. That and Romantic Dreams are the only 2 I'd do away with.

Yeah I like these too, although as a huge fan of ambient music, they aren't exactly blowing me away per se. Nice to see a few lulls though, I really liked it when they did that on KNY.

Yeah everyone gets something different out of tones, I think that's why this is only my 6th favorite of theirs. I def think Good Squad is a great tune though.

This is definitely a big step up from Gore. I'm feeling middle of the pack for their discography so far. Which for any other band is high praise.

Sometimes I find these guys boring and sometimes I don't and I'm not always sure why. Halfway through and this has been solid so far so maybe it is that good

Shoutout to Terry Date for making the bass actually audible on this album.

I love how spaced out The Spell of Mathematics is. Might be my favorite song on the album. I also really love This Link Is Dead but is it just me or would that song benefit hugely from leading into an insane scream (like Royal) at like 3:15 when that guitar comes back in?

Mathematics second half is beautiful, love the instrumental interplay.
Sergio is great here yeah, his first truly great performance and the production only amplifies that.
