What about DGD aren't you keen on? Just trying to get a sense of what you might like instead, could throw some recs your way

I find the screaming segments and the way they're juxtaposed with the poppier parts to be extremely contrived and just comes across as very corny to me. It doesn't feel organic or purposeful, it's like they just write standard pop punk tunes and then throw these screaming segments in just for the sake of it

Also I like what I've heard from Husker Du and they're labelled post hardcore on here

"Why would you listen to this cole you have like no post hardcore ratings lol"

"the dudes gotta start somewhere don't he?"
Of course, I just don't think DGD is a great starting point tbf
@cole maybe check out some A Lot Like Birds and Hail the Sun, if you don't like those then maybe this slice of post hardcore isn't for you. I recommend No Place by ALLB and Wake by Hail the Sun. As for Husker Du which of their stuff did you check?

Thanks I'll check those out. And it's been a while so I don't remember the names, I just looked them up on youtube after a friend told me about them and listened to whatever came up there.

No problemo, let me know what you think and I can think of other recs depending on your reaction lol
Post hardcore is kinda weird because I feel like it's such an umbrella term nowadays, there are some bands that sound legit nothing alike but they'll both be labeled as post hardcore lol. I guess that's true of a lot of bands and artists for different genres as well, but it's always been rather striking

Prob the worst place to start with with these guys..
They are like fast-food... but they have much better albums than this..
The lackluster ones all sound like homogoenous because they have a strict schedule to shit out albums. Maybe one song or two stands out here.

Early Saosin is also a good starting point for getting into post-hardcore imo. It's not quite as "out there" as the swancore style of post-hardcore like the ones Steak rec'd.
