I want to like this but can't get past the vox. Dude can clearly growl but it would have helped the album breathe if he was just used during the emotional peaks or something. I clearly don't understand the genre (see: digging: Fiona Apple) so don't mind me. The guitar tone here is heavy as fuck and I love everything about this album besides the singer. His presence is overbearing.

Surprised you haven’t 5’d it for the tremulous reflection upon the fragility of life. Like the pale skin adorning a porcelain doll

His sort of belched growls are an acquired taste, that much is true, but this generally goes for any metallic vocal style.

Death Metal vox are meant to be a sheet that ties the music together and flings the contents into your face.
Unfortunately many Death Metal vox are like a dog pissing on your fave rug.

Sowing’s take is why the average won’t hold, precisely the same happened to CoL... that isn’t a criticism, merely an observation. When a new release generates substantial hype and has a very high rating early on, then it starts to generate interest from further afield than it otherwise would.

Understandable in many ways, but something unique to new releases. Hence nothing new can ever supplant the classics of the past, regardless of whether they’re worthy or not.

Not trolling, shox. I genuinely think Liturgy's release last year was a fucking travesty and the worst thing I heard in 2019.

As for that take regarding Vektor's vox - I don't mind them at all. Black Future is pretty dope ngl

Damn, I can't believe Ulcerate managed to surpass EiF for the second time now. Holy fuck.

HAQQ only thing it has going for it is better production and structure than Aesthethica and Ark Work. Outside of that its still a pretentious abomination.

" Hence nothing new can ever supplant the classics of the past, regardless of whether they’re worthy or not."

This isn't true. There are tonnes of generic metal albums that overtake classic ambient albums all the time. Most of the time in fact.

HAQQ> this [2]

You only call it pretentious because HHH is operating on a higher plane of existence than all of you.
