Brendan their singer works at the barbershop I go to. I just found this out today. Been going there for like the last five haircuts and he greets me at the door and does cashier. Had no fucking clue

It’s almost always the quiet and shy/awkward guys who do vocals, wonder why that is?

yeah brendan is apparently super chill

some of his lyrics especially on the current will carry us make him seem like a bit of a pretentious dbag

Any examples Scoot? I've never gotten "pretentious dbag" from any of Brendan's lyrics honestly. Basically every Counterparts song is just the definition of someone dealing with severe depression, so I'm kinda curious where that's coming in.

i highly recommend listening to any podcast brendan's been on, dude is funny as hell

some of his lyrics (mostly early stuff) are p pretentious but never douchebaggy imo, just a bit unnecessarily thesaurus heavy

Are they working on new material? I assume every band is during the pandemic but who knows.

They’ve released an album every other year since Currents, hopefully covid didn’t screw up that pattern

i think it may, social media hasn't shown a lot of counterparts activity

and as much as i love this band, i'd be okay with that bc i don't think they'll be able to top this lol

yeah agreed, would be cool to see them explore their post metal tendencies some more and not reserve them solely for album closers

I predict these guys will be like Every Time I Die where they'll just have a solidified sound and always manage to keep sounding fresh every album.

Yes please. Prophets lead work is still some of their most emotive imo.
