Mostly because they’re mainly in Swedish; a language I don’t speak, so they don’t add anything to the songs for me

I just don't think samples fit their style. For me they never have. Those on Watershed annoyed me too.
That being said they're OK here, just a minor hiccup.

There are recordings of kids answering questions about life/love/smth if I'm not mistaken.

Idk they make the album more cinematic imo. I liked them, even though the samples individually don't do that much for me.

Sorceress was average and this is slightly better. The three most problematic parts would be:



The strained singing.

The omnipresent hammond/moog organ.

The uneven flow.

Lovelorn Crime might actually be my favorite post Watershed Opeth track. It’s so simple yet so elaborated, just beautiful.
