That vibe started to change at SWB... Things change, I get it, but this is one of those bands where I could've dug them milking their HV-TWFM feel for another few albums with zero fuss.

I keep going back and forth... It could just be that I’ve listened to it enough now that it just goes down smoothly and I know what to expect.

You said it would be painless, a needle in a doll
You said it would be painless, it wasn't that at all

I totally thought the lyrics in Pink Rabbits were "needle in the dark", not "needle in a doll".

Yeah.. I mean I’ve been enamored with this since release but it just keeps getting better and better. Average is definitely slacking on this one. It’s sooooo good

This album is a tour of emotions. Boredom is an emotion, right?

Feeling a single emotion (boredom on this case) sounds nothing like a tour of emotions.

Bad joke/10

In regards to Pink Rabbits, Matt has stated that he likes the needle in the dark lyrics as well and has used them live various times

The other emotions I experienced were disappointment and lethargy.

If there is a single National album more boring than this one I’d say it was everything album other than this one. TWFM (my favorite) is even more boring, but I still love it more. This is easily them at their least boring.

I feel the same, this one feels a lot more playful that at least a couple of their albums (Albums that I love btw).

How anyone can call this boring and praise their previous releases is beyond me. This is such a gorgeous and lively album.

I'd say this is the most boring album they have released, easily. If it wasn't the National it wouldn't have made a splash on the radar and would have topped out at about a 3 rating from generous raters.
