I didn’t take much notice of Julia because I was just getting into them and enjoying their earlier albums, but what an amazing song it is

I honestly think it takes a a long time to fully get into them and appreciate all their albums

Gonna go walk for an hour and listen to this for the first time because honestly I feel like based on the EP, I want this to be an EXPERIENCE.

Upward, I’m definitely still working my way through all of their albums now, but this was just too good to wait on

I haven't listened to mwY before. This album may take a few listens to settle in, but I'm liking it so far.

Finally listening and reading along with the lyrics this time. Never thought I'd say this of mwY...but maybe I enjoy this more without reading the lyrics so far? Just finished Dormouse Sighs and I get incredibly lost while reading along. Everything is so seemingly nonsensical. It feels like they're written in a way that only Aaron could possibly understand. A lot of the lyrics are dialogue between random animals, objects, people, and words I've yet to identify (Sansevieria??), but the problem is that sometimes he'll state the name of the entity talking before their line and sometimes he just skips right to their line. It makes everything feel very disjointed. Their aren't many lines of lyrics so far that jump out to me as super deep and well-written. It's all very confusing and hard to memorize

I'd just be really interested to see if anyone can give a real interpretation of some of these songs, because I wouldn't even know where the hell to begin

this helped me tbh
doesn't account for everything but a lot of the stuff that seems like nonsense is either just a very obscure literary/religious reference or very personal
not all of it ties together perfectly but it's more cohesive than it seems

Sowing, you should review the new Cursive album too. I NEED the discussion, cause between that and the new mwy, I am OVERWHELMED
|

^^^ Can't argue with that, new Cursive is amazing!

"Sowing, you should review the new Cursive album too."
I'd love to but it's my first Cursive album so I wouldn't be able to provide much perspective outside of "guys this f'n rules"
Also Chan is slated to review it, so it's in good hands

Yes! I finally boarded on the Sputnik hype train this time! Now only if Julia didn’t seem forced at the second track slot...

Personally I prefer Julia as the opener followed by 9:27. The muted screams that end Julia straight into the full throttle brutality of 9:27 flows much better IMO.

They're playing in Toronto tomorrow, are they any good live? I've only listened to this album. Do they know they're playing on Canadian Thanksgiving?

We seem to have moved on from the "favorite mwY lyric" part of the discussion, but I have to share one. Probably not my favorite lyric of all their stuff, but arguably my favorite one-liner:
"I'd never want someone so crass as to want someone like me."
