bass sounds heavy as fuck on the new tracks. producer/ed know what's up.

Based on what I just read it seems the singles are the most radio friendly songs of the new album. Seems everything else is very post-rock, prog-punk and jazz oriented.

Damn I just heard yet another good news from Thrice: there's already a new album in the works for 2022.

Horizons/West
Hard to say if it's good news until we hear East though

Right. I did like the first two singles, but looking back on Vheissu while "Red Sky" and "Image of the Invisible" are great songs they are far from the best so we might be surprised after all... I guess it's good news that the band seems to be reinvigorated.

Thrice singles are rarely the best of the album, or even in the top half of the album. Some exceptions of course.

New one is better than Palms imo, although that isn't saying a whole lot

Just finished my first listen through and it might be the best post-hiatus album. There are a few really cringe inducing moments (Buried in the Sun and The Dreamer have some truly horrible vocal performances but maybe they will grow on me) and a lot of the songs feel like they're building to a climax that never comes, but songs like Dandelion Wine and Northern Lights are excellent and exactly what these guys excel at. Horizons feels closer to what I was expecting them to create when they came back from hiatus and it feels like a more logical conclusion following Beggars and M/M. Riley also brought his A game here

Northern Lights is one of the best definitely. Some songs here even remind me of Less Art a little bit which is cool.

"There are a few really cringe inducing moments (Buried in the Sun and The Dreamer have some truly horrible vocal performances but maybe they will grow on me)"
I actually didn't mind the shouting/almost spoken word vocals of "The Dreamer" and it is one of my favorite songs. I agree with your sentiments on "Dandelion Wine" and "Northern Lights". "Still Life" is also a highlight for me.

new album actually sounds like a return to form at least in terms of production haven't listened to the whole thing yet

Listening now and holy shit Still Life is the highlight so far. Overall this is a substantial step up for them. Feels like they’re on auto pilot waaaayyyyy less than they have been for years now.
