I really should revisit dealer it’s been a while.

This album is a grower but once you familiarize urself with the melodies this album really starts to stand out, plus each songs climax ties up the loose ends of the melodies well, like the final chorus of slapstick with the saxophones, or the guitar solo in Lich prince

I just remember eagerly anticipating this and that’s what probably led to my feelings toward this. Won’t Drown is great and the last half of Grand Paradise is nice but the rest is meh to unlistenable

Lich Prince, Gameshark, Heartbeats, Crown Candy, and Trapped in Dillard’s are all absolutely grating and unlistenable and that’s a good chunk of the album lol. Honestly an album with that many tracks I deem “unlistenable” usually can’t make up for it and will usually be rated a 1.0 from me, so at least I was generous enough with my rating.

I probably should’ve lost hope once Gameshark dropped as a single. I hated it, but I figured it was just a fluke.. it should’ve been a warning of what was to come. Ugh. And in retrospect, this album is a bit worse than I remember. It’s really quite sad. I’d much prefer them not do such a chaotic album next time.

it’s not like it’s outlandishly different from older foxing my dude, I could understand not being a fan of the band full stop but liking the old stuff and raining fire on this seems a bit vindictive
