Thom Yorke contributing to literature? are you for real?

Boney was quoting my opening line of this review, but replaced Nick Cave's name with Thom Yorke instead, and I was defending my opening line cause it seemed like he was poking fun at it.

ah ok. I missed that. Don't get me wrong i think that Thom is a solid songwriter but saying he contributes to literature is pretty bold. Thats why i said that

I love Thom Yorke's songwriting and lyrics but agreed haha, and that's what I figured you thought. And that sentence might seem hyperbolic when taken out of its context, but he has contributed to literature because he's literally written and released multiple books over the decades.

@ComeToDaddy, Oh, thanks. It's too bad, because the violin solo was so chilling. Great album nonetheless.

@Talons I wasn't making fun of that line, if anything I was making fun of myself for my adulation of Radiohead. I had quoted something Fripp said in the OK Computer thread to playfully poke fun at this. All in good fun. :-]
Also for some reason I had it in my head that that was Fripp's review in which case it would have made more sense than it did.

Listening to this for the first time tonight
It might be weird, but it almost musically serves as a gap between Blackstar and You Want it Darker

I find an eriee connection between the three, but if I had to make a 'dark sound' hierarchy, that would be Skeleton Tree > You Want it Darker > Blackstar, because the latter has some lighter notes. Of course, comparing them according to significance, I really can't tell which turned out to be darker.

I can get behind that, regardless they're all really great albums

It's the only one where the artist wasn't dying, but where the artist lost someone. Both bowie and cohen were finding peace with themselves before they moved on. On skeleton tree, cave is dealing with a loss that he cannot handle, and there is no sense of light at the end of it. I would say its probably the darker and sadder record, because its the only one that isnt sadder on the listener's end and more depressing on the artists end
