yeah idk, i hear aesthetic similarities there. that ambiance and airy sound is present, but it certainly does have more in common with avant garde

it does, I wish some songs were longer and I think I need a couple more listens to rly dive into the lyrics but most didnt leave an instant impression on me. it's like a solid 3.7 at this point, just kind of an amalgamation of well done beats and some impressive bars interspersed between but other than the first song there wasn't too much that stuck out. in fact my fav instrumental passages are the closer and Otherside! which are both like 30sec. it seems fleshed out but i wish there was more to grasp onto at points

similar aesthetically in that its chill but similarities end there, cloud rap is wavy low fi psychedelic sounding by definition, this is none of that

grief is a great song no doubt, but is it better than kate bush's 'running up that hill'? i think not

I just look at canonical "cloud rap," including main attrakionz but also that rocky tape, Die Lit from this year, 6 kiss, whatever, and think there are genres and traditions that line up much more with this new album than that stuff but who really cares I suppose

I haven't revisited clouddead in a loooong while but that's an interesting comparison, and they do have "cloud" in their name... (serious observation)

clouddead bridges the gap between traditional experimental and cloud rap so if thats your comparison i can see where the mistake lies yes

no i just have been a massive cloud rap fan since like 09 and also earl and can tell you the new album is not cloud rap

genres are subjective so you can call it swamp rock if you want but i doubt youll find anyone else describing it as cloud rap either
