The bridge on Dissenter is nice. I'll give it that.

The demo of Dissenter was originally supposedly Stephen Christian shouting words off a page in a book really loudly. And that was the basis for the lyrics and vocal style for the final cut. The edited lyrics were actually written on the day of recording too.

"I dunno, tox. Besides the b-sides from Vital, I don't think I have really heard any of the stuff cut from their full lengths since they did Lost Songs."
They've had some nice b-sides, like 'I'd Like To Die,' 'Heavier Things Remain,' 'True Faith' (which kicks ass for a cover), and some others I can't remember atm. But yeah I could have sworn someone posted that they released a new acoustic b-side, maybe it's on the "news" section of Anberlin
@fallen, re: 'Velvet Covered Brick'
Fair enough, it sounds pretty similar to me though. I really do love the verses of 'Velvet Covered Brick' and the lyrics are great, and your interpretation of the chorus is pretty nice. Maybe that concept doesn't work as well for me. That said it's still a great song, it's just not really in my top 5 or whatever (sounding like MySpace lol).

True. Only Hell Or High Water from DITW never saw Cd release, only vinyl.

@silentstar, thanks, I think it was your news article I was referring to. This definitely sounds like it was recorded on a bus haha.

"spam his social media, post on anberlin's latest status, post on A&B's shit, post on stephen's personal fb page, and spam his twitter
i'd love to have seen modern age, although i can live with hearing the haunting"
Yeah, just tweeted at him right now. For those of you who may have Twitter, I started a hashtag: #PetitionForAnberlinToPlayModernAgeInDetroit . Maybe should have left the "In Detroit" aspect alone, but whatever. I have at least a couple friends lined up to tweet at them as well, and I will probably make a dummy Facebook to ask them about the song. I want to hear that song!
On the flip side, a handful of others have requested songs via Twitter for Detroit. I remember I'd Like To Die and Glass To The Arson. I have to think Modern Age stands a better chance than those, right?

Actually 'I'd Like To Die' is a song I could imagine them playing. It reminds me a lot of 'The Haunting' in being really pretty acoustic song that probably should have made the original record. And it's a crowdpleaser I think. Although 'Glass to the Arson' probably not. Good luck with your petition haha.

They actually played We Are Destroyer last night. I thought I heard they weren't doing any Lowborn songs.

Wow, they did? Yeah they didn't do any Lowborn at my concert. Damn. Would've preferred that to like Time & Confusion or something lol

Mmhmm. I was surprised. I wasn't expecting anything from Lowborn and since the vocals were done pretty shitty, I didn't recognize it until the chorus hit.
It was a good set. They played most of their hard hitting stuff at the beginning, slowed it down for a bit in the middle, and then ended with (if I remember right) Dismantle, Resistance, Feel Good, and encored Fin. It was a nice way to finish it off. I was hoping for Little Tyrants, but they didn't play it.

I don't know what this guys thought when they decided to go to south america, asia, australia and what the heck but fckng leave out mainland europe COMPLETELY?! So I never get to see them live...

We Owe this to Ourselves sounds so much better live than it does on the studio recording. I might have a new appreciation for that song after seeing them play it.

Yeah it's a lot better live, because I think the energy about the song makes up for the lack of melody. Although the contrast in the bridge isn't nice, I'd say overall the song works way better live than in person.
And yeah, sounds like the same ending for my show as well. I'd have loved to have heard Little Tyrants too. A little bit too much of NTFP for my taste, but I guess that was their breakout album so I get it

They played Readyfuels, tho! That made me happy.
I think they played close to half of NTFP, now that I think about it. It's my second favorite after Vital, so I was cool with it.
I am having issues remembering what they played in the middle section, but I remember what most of the upbeat songs they played in the first section were, and I'm almost positive that's how they ended the show.
They played Someone-Anyone, Self Starter, and Other Side from Vital. I can't remember if they played one of the more chill songs or not. I also really wanted to heard Miserabile from NS, but I figured they'd only play one of their 'extended' songs, and I knew it would be fin.

Been too depressed to even talk Anberlin after missing their shows. Found a place to live so I'm happy enough to come drop by and say Anberlin rocks my socks.

@Ecnal, yeah I was so pumped hearing it! Had a great reaction from the crowd as well, surprisingly.
I like NTFP a lot too but I don't think it warranted that many songs. And you can look up their setlist on setlist.com if you really want to know lol, it was pretty accurate for my show.
