Now that sounds right up my alley. I don't just listen to metal, I prefer anything that has a dark vibe to it.

fair enough, maybe you would like it then. but yeah its very very discordant.

why? the direction of Gamma Knife and Hubardo paint a pretty clear picture.

Well, I get the feeling that Hubardo was more of a one-off. They wanted to blend the entirety of the KD doscg for their 10th anniversary. They may explore other avenues.

Well it wasn't an unexpected progression from Gamma Knife is what I'm sayin', I predict it will be another outlet that is a combination of bombastic spazz passages with growls mixed with super harmonic waves of orgasm and a dark atmosphere

And so is Zlida...I don't think it's fair to pinpoint the direction of a band like Kayo Dot based on past releases (think of the contrasts between Dowsing and Blue Lamb, and between Coyote and Gamma Knife), but I'm pretty sure Toby said in an interview that he'd possibly keep the metal in for another release or so

Between this and Gamma Knife I think I've had my fill of this version of Kayo Dot. I would want them to explore new ground again.

Great interview with Toby and Ron, from which comes the priceless quote "When our first record came out, we were playing with a lot of Isis ripoff bands, then when our second record came out, we were playing with a lot of Godspeed You! Black Emperor bands, then when our third record came out...we were touring with Secret Chiefs 3"

I'm hoping the band goes in a new direction for the next LP. He said in an interview he only returned

to black metal because he was exhausted of the current black metal scene. He name-dropped Deathspell

Omega as a black metal band he was digging. My BLD vinyl hasn't arrived in weeks. : (

Deathspell Omega is the tits, good name drop toby

i honestly hope he continues down the disharmonious infectiously discordant path of coyote

same, Coyote is my fav of his, it's like a bent dream in music form accompanied by the most all ruling bass tone ever
