at least listen to Anthology and Words in the Water. It's some of their best stuff since Vhiessu.

I do like this album, don’t get me wrong. But I'm surprised it's received as much praise as it has done. I think compared to some older material, its pretty forgettable.

hate how the singing became so grungy. really like the clean vocals from early in their career (illusion of safety, vheissu etc), but now the band just sounds like nirvana.

Just the opposite with me: I can't stand his early high-toned, boyish voice, but I like the more mature version here.

it's not so much that it isn't as high, it's just a bit too gritty and grindy, especially in the choruses/harmonies. i really like the folky singing on earth and a fair bit of beggars. i still like this though, promises has one of the best choruses they've written.

I don't want to be that guy that points out crazy statements.

...but this is a crazy statement.

this is hardly posthardcore. vocally this sounds pretty close to nirvana (just listen to yellow belly). this band is nothing of what they started out as.

Yeah, but it's cool how they've progressed

i like how they progressed. beggars is probably my favourite album by them. this album pushed it a little in the wrong direction for me after beggars. they lost the folky, groovy sound of beggars and gained a more grungey, straight rock sound
