There are several re-issues and 2 remasters I think, maybe you got a duff version ?
The vinyl I got sounds great and the steven wilson remaster is sposed to be really good.

I have 'original master edition' CD from 2004. Everything on there sounds great, very clean and open and crisp with nice bass. I was just referring specifically to the drum sound which doesn't have enough oomph for my liking. The snare is very rat-a-tat-tat. Maybe I've just been listening to to too much Zeppelin!
