I listened to Starless again just now and it really is a contender for the best piece of music I’ve ever heard, remarkable in every aspect. It’s potential impact on my taste is still yet to be defined (so I’m hesitant to call it ‘life-changing‘ in that sense), but it is almost unparalleled at present.

...Starless « live video is indeed a grand master work of melodic & powerful controlled expression of musical energy.
So pure so good.

I ranked it #6 in a "Top 50 Songs" list I recently did. (Which is totally just a lark, obviously, but ya know.) And in all honestly it's probably objectively ""better"" than the five songs I ranked ahead of it, which are thronged to me with nostalgic/emotional ties to a stronger degree.

I hear lots of guitar work on this album that Adam Jones would later use in his work with Tool. Hell, I hear a lot of stuff on this album that lots of bands took from. I don't know why it took me so long to listen to this one.
