seriously though i think i could make a case for this being one of the most important albums of the decade. it influenced so many rock-opera type albums like The Black Parade (MCR) and Underclass Hero (Sum 41) and it basically gave Green Day new life and an entire new fanbase in a separate generation.

you really shouldn't compare american idiot to the black parade just because they both were insanely popular and both frontmen wear eyeliner.
yea the songwriting is meh, but there's so much more musicianship in tbp.
