Mr Jack is also massively underrated.
One of my favourite memories is seeing SOAD live and having an entire stadium of people screaming 'FUCK YOU PIG.'
They also played Marmalade, which was a really nice surprise.

System of a Down isn't for everyone. Their style is unique to say the least. They combine spoken word with raw music to produce a rave-type tone. Not to mention their use of metaphors appeals idiotic to casual listeners. Most can't figure out what their most popular tracks are about and enjoy the aesthetic appeal to songs like "Chop Suey" and "Toxicity," which are well written songs in their own right. Although they are overplayed, they do not get the credit they deserve. Comparing them to Rage Against the Machine is fair, but only in the sense of style. Both have a unique style that added to the genres they were involved. A better comparison to System of a Down would be KoRn for obvious reasons. Tool would also be a good comparison due to both bands relying on style and giving off a 'trippy' vibe with their music.

I meant they are totally different bands and SOAD is definitely not nu metal
but go on

Yeah I've always hated SOAD being thrown into the nu metal genre. They really don't sound like your average nu metal band.

'SoaD I mean. Not LP.'
To each their own, LP have some really good moments. I'll agree that SOAD is easily the superior band though.

System of a Down is considered a part of nu-metal because of their sound. Nu-metal isn't a bad genre in my opinion and don't understand why many people hate the genre. Although public reception has softened to nu-metal over the years, I don't see what is wrong with the genre. System of a Down follows the traditional style of nu-metal in the sense of seldom using solos, using prominent heavy riffs, fusing outside styles with metal, and for generally taking a peculiar approach to their marketing. I wouldn't consider this a surprise as "Chop Suey," "Know," "Forest," "Sugar," "Aerials," "War?," "Spiders," and "Thetawaves" all serve as prominent examples of System of a Down remaining connected to nu-metal. "B.Y.O.B" is also a good example since it examples a style of nu-metal made popular by Slipknot. Whether or not you personally consider System of a Down as nu-metal is subjective, but aesthetically, they are easily considered one of the best nu-metal acts; I would dare say they are in the top 3.

I've been listening to a lot of SOAD S/T lately and I've come around on it being the best nu-metal album.
