Strangers is the best, It Could Be Sweet and Roads are good though.
|
| |
They are good, sure, like 3/5 good, in contrast with most of the rest of the album which are all somewhere between quintessential and god-tier
|
| |
As far as more low-key Portishead songs go I'd rather listen to Western Eyes than any of those bottom 3 tracks I mentioned

Wandering Star is kinda low there pots

Id still say it's more literally perfect than Glory Box (;

Switch the two then, makes no difference to me

That list is kind of how I feel yeah, but the margin is smaller.
Western Eyes is superb agreed! Their self-titled is almost as good as this imo.

Haha, yeah, feel the same way sometimes. They switch places a lot for me.

Ooh you haven't heard Rustin Man? WTF ASAP ETC
|
| |
Self titled is underrated and I love it but it's no contest between this and that

No Egarran I was referring to the Gorecki one. I've got the Rustin Man one, it's nice.
I've always felt the s/t and this were very close. The s/t was the first one I heard, so it's special to me. Remember being 16 or so and trying to get into it, spinning it all the time on my discman while reading the booklet.

The highs on this one are just so legendary, s/t is consistent but nothing quite transcends like the best tracks here
