I didn't analyze it but to me, it felt like a truer approach...more like the black album for instance. Was it more commercial and rock than thrash ? Sure, the black album was as well...but at least it was not supposed to be a "return to roots" album which ended up being a clusterf**k with poor songs that should never have been released.



I like Metallica, i do...their first albums are legendary (and not only because of Mustaine's influence or Burton's) but they don't know how to make albums...they haven't in a long time. Hetfield is great, Ulrich is terrible but used to be good. But they should have cut a lot of fat on songs and even whole songs on all their albums since the black album. Overly long songs, uninspired ones that should never have been included, lyrics that make Jeff Waters sound like a genius writer, etc.



In the end, all that matters is our own enjoyment and i don't have a good time listening to this or even Load/Reload.
