Colors is their best album in terms of musicianship, production, creativity, and proficiency. However, The Silent Circus and the self-titled have better songwriting in some cases. Also, with a 65 minute song-album, it takes some Opethy dedication to appreciate it fully.

I still need to get some of their other stuff. I've been saying that for like 4 months now and I still haven't done it. This album is still amazing though. Listening to it now for the first time in a while.

I didn't like it at all first time save for a few parts, but it's getting better.

For about the first month I really enjoyed this album and rated it as a 5, but now whenever I try to listen to any of the songs I become bored. They overemphasize trying to be technical without being creative and a lot of the riffs and breakdowns become repetitive when it could have been filled with something more interesting. I've really became less of a fan of the vocals since it's kind of monotone and you really don't know how good he is at singing since he uses effects to mask his voice somewhat. The song could have been shorter and more electronics/piano would have helped. I also didn't like their attemps to show off trying to mix other genres into it.

Overall I think it is still their best and I don't think their next album will be able to top this judging from the clip I heard of it.

I've seen them live before. I remember not being that much impressed since their stage performance was pretty robotic. They did play bicycle at one point.

They've really improved their roboticness.

But the point I was more getting at was the Tommy's live vocals are really spot on.

Alright i'll watch it when I get the chance. I'm hoping their newest album moves away from metal to be more melodic.
