Bermuda to me is both too wanky and too "Deafheaven playing BM dress up" I think the new songs sound distinctly like them in comparison

fair

regardless, deafheaven going 'metulz' has never suited them

those last few minutes of Baby Blue will never be not terrible

I am happy they are back to doing what they are best at in some capacity

new bermuda is far from perfect and Baby Blue is a laughably bad song, but as a whole it's not in the same league of cringe as the two after, and the good bits (i.e. first 1.5 tracks) hit hard enough to get one up on the kitsch shit on this, so I don't mind cutting it some slack
title of best deafheaven is heavily contestable - they've never made an end to end solid record, so maybe the new one is the moment

It's all about the bookends on New Bermuda for sure, everything else is kinda buns

oh yeah it was cute of them to drop an everlong closer fr
a handful of decent songs is all you need from this band. grab two from NB, the infinite granite opener and the pecan tree, and it's a wash

'but as a whole it's not in the same league of cringe as the two after'

brother, I ain't gonna lie, I don't think I can name more than three albums that are in the same league of cringe as ordinary latte diarrhea and granite constipation

I didn't listen to this album in full until like a month ago but I think Dream House is for sure their best song

the baby blue solo has made me cry are we hearing two different songs??? I've never understood that, what the hell are you talking about jesse

also I'm almost to the end of the new album and this is so good.

"ordinary latte diarrhea and granite constipation" commit to an asylum for those even more cringe renames

it's jarring and awful. like they got kirk hammett in studio for a solo. it does not fit the rest of the song at all.
