12 songs on the new album, so I'm guessing we're getting 4-5 minute songs throughout. Dan deserves it though, he could use a break from the frantic drumming for 8+ minutes straight.

Oh for sure, I just would hate for their strongest style (long-form slowburners) to be done away with entirely

the numbered tracks are interlude-esque as per an interview with george. I'd have to guess we're still getting mostly those shorter tracks tho, but we'll see!

I mean this is real good so I'm cool with it, I'd just really love some more drawn out post rock influence

i think a couple longer traditional tracks would be good to keep it dynamic. hell give me a 10 minute post-rock track sandwiched in there somewhere idgaf as long as there's enough riffs elsewhere.

Black Brick was their best "pure" bm song, this is pretty decent. But they really needed to find their metal roots again so i can't complain

It's fascinating how this band was super exciting to me when I first listened to their music, but then soon they just grew off me massively. I really don't feel the urge to return to any of their albums

They were lightning in a bottle in terms of popularizing blackgaze (I truly think without that Sunbather cover they wouldn't have exploded like they did) and then blackgaze was suddenly everywhere within the metal community.

I never got the hype behind this album but I just saw the Fantano retrospective on it. And then I saw the latest single just dropped and it actually slaps.

So I decided to give this album another try but honestly, I still find it fairly average with a few a highlight moments sprinkled in. I really don't understand the hype this release got.

i think it's equal parts that it wasn't a common genre fusion in the mainstream metal circles in 2013 and just how much it angered the craziest of genre purists by existing. that "Hipster Black Metal" youtube channel basically only existing because of this album lol

It was but I condensed my 5s down to albums that are quite literally life changing for me. Didn't wanna just give 5s to everything anymore lol.

I always ask myself if I would want anything changed about the album. If not, it's a 5.

Coming from noise rock and shoegaze, this was a game changer for me to start appreciating bm. I hate the idea that I’m among those hipsters, but what can I do? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
