ALA Rainbows is fourth or fifth in my ratings and again that's really not a crazy opinion. It has a couple of average tunes is all and my two favourites on it are the Bends throwbacks (Nude, Jigsaw). I remember the release of that album so much, think it was the first digital music I ever downloaded back in 2007.
Con yeah Decks Dark was another that stood out after the listening break.

I don't like the nu-metalness on White Pony, but when they do the experimental shit, it's nice.

"if anything, Bodysnatchers is a Bends throwback"
Reasonable conclusion... unlike Doof's conclusion of Nude sounding even remotely like The Bends

Yeah sort of, I think every heavily guitar driven Radiohead song gets labelled as such since they're such a rarity these days.

'try their later albums then'
yeah this. I rarely suggest anyone to start with white pony, even though it's fantastic.
I normally suggest kny or de, they're normally fairly easy albums to get into.

Nude was written at the same time as The Bends - my first impressions of Rainbows when it came out was 'ah, they've come to terms with their Bends history'. Those two songs and Bodysnatchers just had a bit of that influence (not all that was going on obviously, but it was noticeable). It was unmistakable, Yorke even started singing like his old self.
Amnesiac hasn't got a single classic Radiohead song on it for me, Pyramid is maybe closest but I don't love that song, its a bit too on the nose with Yorke's lyrics living up to the audience's existing perception of the band a bit. I Might Be Wrong is an ok song with some lovely bells and whistles added, it sounds a million dollars. Knives Out is Paranoid junior as every man and his dog has said a trillion times before. Whose Army? is decent, Dollars and Cents is decent. The piano version of Spinning Plates would have been better, call me basic, but it deserved better than the backward vocal approach, do that stuff without dominating what could have been an incredible song. The rest is all average to dreck.
