Tec sharing awesome opinions nothing new here. I’ve never had a lambic so I gotta get on that.
Demon that is a ridiculous readily available selection lol

“AND a lot of breweries have a 48oz daily limit for any customer“
just realised how stingy that is, wow 😮… I mean, if it doesn’t matter what the ABV is. That’d definitely plenty for anything on the “stronger side”
and yeah I guess Belgium is pretty close geographically (for importing), there’s just some pesky water in the way lol

To be fair, local breweries do tend to brew somewhat stronger ABVs--but yeah, it's a little stingy. I'm not sure if they regulate further for something stronger (i.e. imperial stouts = only 36oz or something).
I don't drink super often so 48oz of craft beer would definitely put me under the table lol
Though now you've all piqued my interest on lambics... I think I've only had the fruity stuff. God knows if I can find any of that here in my flyover state haha

ya 4 7-8% beers is more than enough for me these days. 6% or less then I better be getting a six pack

had a belgian raspberry lambic once and it tasted like juice it was nice

Be careful - not many, but some (especially the more 'popular') lambic brewers will back-sweeten their fruited lambics (i.e., add sugar beyond what is need for fermentation) and the result is very much like...fruit juice. They taste good (I mean, fruit juice tastes good) but they are quite a ways away from 'traditional' lambic. Lindeman's is one brewery who does this with their Kriek, Framboise, Cassis, etc.
Besides being overly-sweet (imo), this masks a lot of the characteristics you generally want and look for in real lambic, the ripe/tartness from the fermented fruit sugars, the funky/sweaty/earthy notes from the wild yeast strains, and the woody/tannic/vinous profile of the aging barrel.

yeah tect i knew that's not what a real one was but yeah alcoholic fruit juice is tasty haha! i definitely want to try a real lambic, that kinda flavor is what i like in a craft beer. ipa's ain't for me. used to have a world market near me and they had an unreal selection of beers from around the world. hundreds and hundreds.

Very blessed to have a local world market that sells 12 packs of random beers from across the globe. It's almost exclusively lagers and light beers too which I love. My fridge looks like a southeast asian frathouse. Light beers are just as important as IPAs which definitely overcrowd the market here.

My go-to lager these days is a fresh Helles lager. Weihenstephan makes a great one (again, if you can find it relatively fresh) for something closer to "macro" (i.e., available almost everywhere). Though a handful of local breweries around my way do a great one as well.
