That being said. Sabbath's best solo is, by far, The Straightener

Definitely my favorite Sabbath album, though that might not be popular opinion. I'm just such a sucker for Dio's voice.

Agreed. First time I heard Die Young, I had to press repeat repeatedly. And Lonely is the World doesn't get mentioned enough.

Neon Knights has to be one of the best openers. Lady Evil is pretty lackluster, though.

this album would be better if it were vol 4

"Lady Evil is pretty lackluster, though"
Lady evil is a killer track when performed in a lower tune. Check Heaven and Hell playing the song for proof.

How does this stack up to the first 6?

Totally different band and not as good as any of the first 6.

Seeing as Iommi, Butler and Ward are all on here, I fail to see how this incarnation of Sabbath is a "totally different band". Agreed that it's weaker than all of the first 6, though.

Stylistically it's like a totally different band even though it shares many of the same members, that's my point.

Yeah, it sounds like a totally different band even if the name and some of the band members are the same
It's not inferior for me, just a different kind of 'ol school metal
