I don't think I ever told this story, but this album literally broke my ass. When it dropped in 2008 I went on a hike at night to jam it, and I wound up listening to it 3 times in a row in a secluded park while swinging on a swingset. It was a fantastic time. I wake up the next day and my ass cheeks are just destroyed. Pulled pork. Couldn't move for like 2 days.

Metallica is arguably my favorite band of all time and I forgot this even existed for a bit. Extremely subpar. I'm honestly surprised at all the 3.5's and 4's from ppl on this page haha.



Like.. there's nothing here. James sounds good and that's basically it. It's just a rehash of hardwired with even more basic drumming from Lars than usual. The solos suck the drums are just there the riffs are rehashes of previous riffs and the previous riffs were just okay to begin with. It's metallica on autopilot playing Grandpa metal because they no its what the fans want to hear I Feel like some of the big fans will just accept anything from metallica at this point and like it just because it's metallica. Like its not garbage and atleast they are playing metal again but it's somehow even more mid, boring and less Interesting than some of the experimental stuff they did. The guitar tone is complete ass to. Most generic guitar tone I've ever heard
