I presume the definitive version and the one to get is the 2023 LP mix on Bandcamp?
|
| |
not really. the LP mix does sound very slightly different - the drums are a bit clearer and it's slightly more dynamic, but due to LP constraints i had to cut the last 8 minutes from chasmal fires and put it on side B so the flow is interrupted a bit. additionally when i did blind tests i couldn't confidently tell the difference every time so i'd simply opt for the regular master.
i released the LP mix due to the vinyl delay and for those who wanted a less compressed mix - that said, i don't believe the compression has a negative impact on the cd mix at all (and i'm pretty anal about that lol)

Thanks for that. I am not a fan of the idea of Chasmal Fires being divided on the version I listen to, so I will grab the original CD mix. I have been listening to to this for years online, so I figured it is time to throw some cash your way so I can actually own the release in my collection.
What's next for you, anyway? Ethereal Shroud is all done, yes?
|
| |
there's an album i'm hoping to complete by 2027 but whether it's going to be under the ethereal shroud name yet is something i haven't decided. it's quite different to this album but it does utilize some of the same compositional elements.
no need to throw me money - message me on my page and i'll shove you a bandcamp code xox

Too late! Small price to pay for such excellent music. It's the least I could do, really! I appreciate the offer.
|
| |
i'll likely make the album 'name your price' on its third anniversary so everyone can listen to it for free and as intended.

Hey noct, would you be down to do some guest vox on a song from my band's blackgaze EP? No pressure at all, just thought id ask!
|
| |
sorry, not in a position to guest on any projects right now but i'm really humbled to be asked!
|
| |
i never got around to listening to this, will check!

Every song feels like a small album within itself
So many patient pieces churning together into one massive unit

well they each could be EPs tbf lol.
|
| |
they were intended as standalone albums in the beginning as a trilogy but I decided to condense them down to make one "opus" of an album
I think I made the right decision - thank you all for the feedback ♥️

Yea, I have always listened from start to finish when I put this one. Same goes for albums like Moonsorrow's Viides luku – Hävitetty etc. - once I start something like this up, I am in for the duration.
|
| |
the opening to this album is a rather obvious an homage to how that album opens - pretty shameless in retrospect!

This album doesn't like blow my mind or anything but it is infinitely repeatable and I never tire of listening to it. It's a go-to background album for me. Opening track *is* incredible, love the little string-plucking chime that characterizes the song.
