I mean no offence to tect but you took advice from someone who's a) not well-versed in mxc by his own admission b) literally just heard their discog with minimal time for reflection...
Questionable decision making process.

"The contrarian gene I apparently hold is already disgusted by the rating I shall eventually give this. I'm off to slap some pitiful scores on more deserving hype-train material, brb."

Whoa whoa Demon, I never said I was “unfamiliar” with metalcore, just that I was never particularly warm and privy to it - meaning, I listen to plenty of it, but I often fail to see/hear what its champions see/hear in it. I’m sure the notches on my mxc bedpost are far outnumbered by those on yours, but I wouldn’t say Im unfamiliar with the genre by any means, especially not compared to an average/median consumer of all things music. I’ve just never been able to fully embrace the genre, save for a few outliers (e.g. ALL WE LOVE WE LEAVE BEHIND).

I think you might be confusing disso death/black with mxc (as he does like such things), which are pretty different last time I checked. Again, I'm only going by what tect admitted to himself. This isn't a 'get tect' crusade btw, far from it. I respect his hype-immune takes. Something I also consider myself capable of.
I'm doing my duty as an honourable member of this forum to knock Staff down a peg where necessary, that pedestal is under construction and I'm sorry you cannot sit there.

Apologies for the error tect, my bad. Do you not find other mxc homogenous then? I mean the example you used for a discog run where the albums were distinctive was Coldplay, which seemed like a weird comparison hence my comments.

dissodeath and bm are whatever's whatever, we're talking noiz and no wave here thank u
and i'm sitting here in the middle of whatever fucko carnival cult sweeps this site off its feet approx 3 times a yr doin quite fine. i can fw role reversal as long as it's as ephemeral as whatever hype stodge is being recycled for the occasion, cya in the ohms thread

i neither know nor care; all i can tell you is that there is zero chance of me jamming multiple albums from these guys back to back or probably on consecutive days hm
also gonna take this opportunity to acknowledge that A Colossal Wreck is yes a slapper

Okay you got me - bringing Coldplay into this was borderline non sequitur, I only cherry picked that one because it’s the most recent one I’ve done before ETID. In a realm of slightly more Venn overlap, I also did an Immolation discog run - a band who has had a very similar sound and recipe for success through most of their career, and yet I still felt like each of their albums had its own personality, it’s own disposition, stakes of claim that none of the other could make, etc.
And for something totally within the genre, back when I did a Converge run many years ago, I had no trouble delineating the albums from one another. Hence why I love ALL WE LOVE WE LEAVE BEHIND and hate AXE TO FALL - they are *very* different albums. Not sure I can say any two ETID albums are all that different or discrete, honestly (again, save for maybe GUTTER PHENOMENON).
