very curious as to how the remixed You Ascendant is only 3 minutes long when the long slow build is 100% what makes that song so good
you'll understand once you hear it. the beat/melody is fantastic and it starts from the jump and just repeats throughout the whole track, but it's sooooo mesmerizing. one of the best tracks on the remix album, for sure

imo this bands strongest points have been the lyrics and vocal delivery. That's not saying their musicianship isn't there. It is. My point is just that the remixes don't take away from what are already your favorite songs. They just paint the songs in a different light, but the soul of the song is still there. I feel comfortable saying the remix album is a welcome and interesting addition, but for me, it didn't make anything better or worse. It's just slightly, different, obviously. Unless you absolutely hate downbeat electronic stuff, you'll probably like this just as much as the original.

I should probably dive back in on this. Havn't really checked back since it first dropped and I saw them live. tbh, the live show was the most disappointing one I have seen from these guys. It just lacked the insane energy I was used to from them. It really sucked the air out of this album for me.

listened to this for the first time in a while recently and my complaints are roughly the same but the many strengths shine that much brighter.
that being said, i really hope their next effort is less homogenous

I’m so glad I can grow to love one of this band’s albums. My ultimate problem with this band is that the vocalist just never fucking stops! At many points not only is he the focal point but there’s just so much awesome music going on under him and he overshadows everything. He grows to be so annoying. That’s why I love this album so much. The music finally gets a chance to breathe and everything sounds so different. There are times where I even get cult of Luna vibes from the guitar tones. Songwriting and production is so gorgeous and intoxicating. This is all just so damn good to me cause he’s lower in the mix and doesn’t have a never ending stream of spoken word diarrhea lmao
Don’t get me wrong, he’s fine. But that’s why I can’t get into their other albums as much, but I wish I could. I’m glad this is here (:

This is just boring spoken word.

Yeah, instrumentally, this is extremely underwhelming.

Agreed with mongi completely. I think it's great the vocals take a little bit more of a backseat here
i don't find this instrumentally underwhelming at all

Guess I’m in the minority when I find this to be their best. On their debut it’s awesome but he’s a little less verbose than he is on Rooms.

it's not that weird of an opinion Mongi but the thing is Wildlife is 10x more emotionally gripping in my view

Haven't listened to these guys since probably 2014 and thought I outgrew this type of thing. Just got around to listening to this one finally, and it's surprisingly decent! I really like how subdued and measured this thing is, especially the trademark vocal melodrama.

This actually got better for me since release, it went from a 3.0/3.5 to a 4.2.

Yeah this is their best, fight me bish.
