what kind of baroque troglodyte goes into grind looking for soul lmfao

I think grindcore can have plenty of soul. Not in the black music/r&b/jazz/blues/literal soul music sense but in the sense that it's played and composed with heart and feeling and care like most good music is, across all genres. The argument that punk/hardcore and other kinds of metal do have soul and grind doesn't is wildly asinine to me. Lots of people are fans of all of it because they can check similar boxes. Extremity =/= bereft of feeling. You just have tiny little weak baby ears.
While Napalm Death don't have an album as good as Prowler or Terrifyer, I don't mind the thought that they're a better overall band. Seeing as they've been consistently putting out excellent records for most of their career, and through most iterations and Pig Destroyer pretty much fell off after Phantom Limb. Apex Predator and Throes of Joy pack some HEAT.

i go into anything looking for soul
>played and composed with heart and feeling
its not tho. its only purpose is brashness, but brashness without artistry isnt going to get a high score
>You just have tiny little weak baby ears.
this isnt even heavy

well its not. its too simple
grind is just punk trying to be metal, actually succeeding, but then never realizing what metal is all about, meanwhile sacrificing what made punk/hc enticing

“ metal is all about, meanwhile sacrificing what made punk/hc enticing”
Would you please elaborate?

"this isnt even heavy"
You don't like anything that IS heavy
" its only purpose is brashness"
The same thing could be argued for a ton of genres. In every case, it'd be a reductive and plain wrong misinterpretation.
Scott Hull and Brian Harvey play their hearts out on this shit. The songs have a ton of dynamic change ups and switches and fantastic grooves and melodies. Scott could turn out like 5 amazing riffs in a 40 second song and have it be cohesive. JR screams his vocal chords apart. All of the lyrics read like a character study with themes of mental illness and obsession. The soul is there whether it's lost on you or not.
"no canon is 5 bc indeed its the only thing that deserves it"
It's one of the most milquetoast and boringly, painfully consonant examples of classical music I've heard in a while. Listen to Bartok or Webern instead.

Technicality and heaviness are just two completely different things.
