It might have to do with its placement in the tracklist but Day I Die is hitting really hard for some reason.
Empire Line is all about the last third, one of my favorite sequences on the album.

I think I'd like it more if t were later in the tracklist but as it is I always kind of forget about it by the end.

Back half is where it's at. Without tracks 8-12 this is at best a 3.5.

Boney and I share pretty much the same top 5 favs on here. Also agreed that the 2nd half is superior, but not by much imo. System, Nobody Else, and Day I Die are fantastic. Born to Beg also hits really hard some listens I've found.

For some reason I've listened to Alligator twice as much as this since it dropped. Probably because its the best album ever.

Walk It Back is the one song that's clicking with me now, after feeling tepid on first listen.. gorgeous track.. overall, this is still holding at 3.5 for me..

I guess I just don't like the experimentation behind Walk It Back and the Title Track. Maybe it will grow.

A lot of people keep praising the second half over the first, but honestly the second half gets a little monotonous for me. The first half is much more varied and immediate, which makes it more exciting to me. I'll Still Destroy You and Guilty Party are pretty generic and the last few tracks are decent on their own but are all so slow and moody that they don't complement one another so much as bleed into each other slightly forgettably. I feel like the second half needs a poppier track or some kind of shot in the arm like System in the first half. If the first half didn't have those more upbeat moments, it wouldn't be as noticeable, but it winds up just making the second half sound a little samey. Really my only major gripe with the album though since as a whole I really like it.

Seeing them on the 28th Hammersmith Apollo - new venue for me, going with the missus, when we watched them about a year after first meeting it was one of those life experiences you don't forget.

I'm seeing them the 5th! My first time seeing them too.
Seeing Arcade Fire and Sturgill Simpson this weekend too, it's a big month for shows for me.
