my first listen was a shit quality Facebook stream that had zero info about track names, time, titles, etc. it was complete chaos and I wouldn't have it any other way

Yeah i prefer not to ruin all the fun mysteries in store by listening to a poor quality copy. Different strokes

I jumped in 25 minutes in and was completely lost. The first time I heard the whole thing for real I picked up on so many different things that the stream couldn't capture

PS - where have all these new opinions of the singles (Nightmare & Mene) and the remastered demos being 'shit' come from? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'm probably a hesitant to admit fanboy, but I feel everything from these dudes is pretty essential. They're all a part of the bigger picture that is Brand New.

"Wow, this is way softer than what I've read has lead on. Super wild album. I would say their weirdest album ever, yet their poppiest (catchiest? word choice?) since Deja. I'm super pleased and can't wait to return again and again"
this makes me not wanna listen

gyro in four words please describe this album to me

Album Rating: 5.0
@fromtheinside - NO! Trust me, I would feel the same way if I had read that before listening. It's quite an album and not soft per se. Just more subdued than I expected. Dive in - do iit
There's plenty of rockin', cathartic chaos to go around

Mene was not shit, but I Am A Nightmare I have no defense for

this is their most subdued by far yeah
i hate to say this so early but this does have 5 potential, granted i am an enormous enormous fanboy for this group

@fti This album is a lot more "Out of Range" and a lot less "I Am A Nightmare" fyi

Mostly agreed Green Baron - but I do see I Am a Nightmare as a nice throwback to the real early days that is just a nice tune, no more than that

Dark catchy fan service
It's like a hybrid of daisy and tdag

Album Rating: 5.0
It really is a hybrid of those with some Deja definitely thrown in. It also has its own vibe for sure; Brand New wears their influences more on their sleeves here than I've ever heard them do
Its closest relative if it has one would probably be the Leaked Demos, but that really doesn't give one a great idea either

I really liked this on first listen... but I can't deal with how hyperbolic this review is :/

"Its closest relative if it has one would probably be the Leaked Demos, but that really doesn't give one a great idea either"
it's fair to compare these given the leaked demos were the perfect transition from deja to tdag
just sprinkle a bit of daisy and voila science fiction

I haven't listened to this yet. Is this actually as good as the rating suggests, or is this album being way overhyped like every other Brand New album?

Album Rating: 4.0
If any album gets a 5 the day it's released its guaranteed to be overhyped
