"Is it blackgaze?" Kinda, without any screams if I remember correctly. It's more metal than just shoegaze, and musically sounds very similar to Alcest. Fun fact that most of you probably know, but Fursy Teyssier, the mastermind of Les Discretes did the album art for Souvenirs, Ecailles, Voyages, etc. and wrote/played the instrumental, Abyssess on Ecailles.
IMO, Septembre is Les Discrets best album.

Totally agree about Septembre being the best. Fursey's art is pretty damn awesome, he also did a lot of Agalloch's album art, and many other albums I was surprised to find out.

Hey, fun facts all around! I'm picky about blackgazey stuff but when I like it I usually like it a lot so I'm a bit excited to hear it.

"i heard that septembre album and it's nothing special."
you shut your mouth
"Is it blackgaze?"
Absolutely not. It's the dreamy-yet-melancholic rock of Alcest without any of the floating clouds or dream popiness, little-to-no metal instrumentation, and only Fursy's great cleans. There might be a moment or two when the drums go into a black metal rhythm and the guitars follow, but that's about it in terms of "blackgaze." The rest is basically dark rock-gaze. Fursy's vox are so good tho and imo both albums are really solid. And "L’ Échappée" is sooo good.

Yeah people should check them out if they like this band, along with the new Sylvaine that Neige plays on.
I saw Alcest live yesterday and they were amazing. A Deafheaven side project called Creepers opened for them too.

Yeah my gf was able to use your ticket and she enjoyed it. Sorry you couldn't come, but they make albums pretty frequently and tour a lot so they might come back soonish. I'm gonna try to see them every time they're in the area.

Seeing them early next month, can't fucking wait.
I just wish Niege would sing the clean vocals on Eclosion that I've seen him skip in videos. Why Niege, whyyyyyy

I saw Alcest in 2015 since they had a Florida. I was excited when I saw them announce their current US tour...only to find out they have no Florida show. I'm heartbroken.
