Probably more of a 4.3 but yeah I still love this as much as I did when it came out

I haven't jammed this since I did like 10 times in 2 weeks after it came out but still haven't felt compelled to. I should try it again.

George said the album art was inspired by the lyrics from baby blue and some reference painting (i forget what it was). I assumed the album art would be inspired from Brought to The Water, since it has the line "a multiverse of fuchsia and violet surrenders to blackness now". I woder what the lyrical significance of baby blue is, since it seems to mean a lot to George.

even though i'm a fairly big deafheaven fan, i've found george's writing tends to be abstract for abstractness' sake, trying to sound intentionally symbolic

contrived, basically

also the weakest part of this album is definitely the vox, there are screams he definitely cannot hit

still love it though

such a devisive album lol. I actually love his vocals. He brought the same vocal style of From The Kettle Onto The Koil for this and it works great. Just different from Sunbather. But I understand how some wouldn't like it

vox here are 100000000000000000000x better than the absolute trash he vomited on 'Kettle, though.

I read somewhere that the cover looks like someone getting bukkaked on, it's stuck with me for months, so ya that's what the album art is.

He said he tries to right %50 coherent lyrics and %50 abstract. The lyrics here are a lot more out there than sunbather but I think they fit the darker theme of the album.

I also really enjoy their ep. Exit Denied is one of my favorite Deafheaven songs. The ending to that song reminds me of Phoenix in Flight by Converge

Sunbather is their only record that has moments of boredom. There really isn't anything funny about it.

I thought it was Sunbather that split off slow instrumental passages into separate tracks and had a 'field recording' of a drug deal and some street traffic.

My mistake.
