It’s a 3/5 ... sounds so familiar that by the end it was a drag to finish

“Honeycomb” feels subtle, and i am glad they’ve found a more sophisticated way around song arrangement than here, where it sounded like riffs piled upon riffs with obvious signifiers of influence. this could be their best album yet, so hopefully i become more enamored with this song in the next few weeks and the rest of the songs follow a similar structure.

the more I listened to this album, the more I didn't like it. I think there are a lot of solid additions to the sound, but just the same, some shiet ones. lil too big for its britches, but gives me a lot of hope for OCHL.

baby blue gives me the blues bc it's not good. Or at least that like 2 mins of crap solo ruins the rest idk

First half of this is consistently excellent, as in ending with the excellent 3:30 minute intro of Baby Blue.

brought to the water is my favourite off this. great energy in the first half and then we get this almost "kiss me" sounding riff later on haha. fantastic song.

OCHL is their best composed overall, very satisfied with the first listen. sunbather had questionable interludes and was arguably carried by dream house and the pecan tree (two of the best songs of the decade), new bermuda had sloppy transitions and lackluster passages (was rushed to meet a deadline). new one doesn't have a bum note, the relaxed writing process did wonders.

The new one does improve the transitions and sounds more consistent than this, but I'm not sure if it's better. It's dense listen and probably needs more jams but I really liked it, especially the first song and Night People.

New album is unbelievable and vastly better than this
