Surprised there hasn't been a staff review of this yet. It's been two days and this has been the biggest album of the year so far.
|
| |
honestly id have to say Lil Ugly Mane's 'On Doing An Evil Deed Blues' is probably the most important thing to happen in hip-hop in the last decade and its just one track.

there's probably some hot idiom for this phenomenon

Lil Ug takes the cake with that song
but for 2000 onward Shabazz Palaces, Death Grips, Dark Time Sunshine, Mick Jenkins, Clipping, Cities Aviv, Young Fathers, Black Milk, Milo, Open Mike Eagle, Ratking, Doppelgangaz, Deltron, Blu, Binary Star, Billy Woods, Cannibal Ox, El-P, and Cunninlynguists have all released important music.
and I'm sure many more will come to me
if we are talking 00's thats easy as fuck, Cannibal Ox - Cold Vein, El-P - Fantastic Damage, and Binary Star - Masters of the Universe, 3 most important hip-hop albs easy. if we are talking the actual decade as in 2006 trhu 2015 thats a little more tricky. there has been lots of important stuff but no two or three that really stand out amongst the others other than that lil ug song

I meant the decade so far as in 2010-2015. Wasn't talking about the 2000s when I said Kanye and Kendrick put out the best this decade so far. I agree on Cold Vein, Fan Dam, Cunninlynguists though for the 2000s
|
| |
Deltron 3030 and Cold Vein are 2 classics, Ratking did something really different with So It Goes, not a fan of death grips, Shabazz palaces are pretty good as well, Love mick Jenkins, Dark comedy by open mike eagle was also fantastic. Most of El-P is awesome, can't get enough of his production work, especially him on Run The Jewels

have you listened to this potato http://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=120715

2010-2015 goes to alt hip-hop artists like death grips, shabazz palaces, clipping and lil ugly mane then because that movement is far more innovative then kendrick and kanye stuff. kanye is just shit in general and kendrick is good but none of his tunes are nearly as innovative as you guys seem to think. all of it has been done before.

@ritvik word up dude. death grips i hated for a long time but regardless of anyones feelings about their music what they've been doing is pushing the envelope far more then most people have the balls to
