@Ecnal
Hearing Voices
Atonement
Losing It All
We Are Destroyers
Stranger Ways
I like these songs quite a bit
Armageddon, Harbinger, and Velvet Covered Brick are all great songs as well.

Dissenter as a top 5, Green? Gross, ha ha. That song just does nothing for me.
Yeah, I agree a lot of yours, tox. The delay in the guitar on Hearing Voices is pretty glorious. Atonement is def my fave here, followed by Harbinger and Armageddon. I enjoy the upbeat feel of Losing it All but without it being heavy and distorted and whatnot. Out of the three more 'rockin' songs (or whatever you want to call them) We Are Destroyer is the only one I enjoy every aspect of.
I also like what Birds of Prey has going for it. When Anberlin wants to inject some atmosphere in a song, they usually succeed.

Yeah agreed Ecnal. I'm not quite as high as you on Harbinger and Armageddon as you, but I can see why you'd dig them. And Losing It All is definitely great. It reminds me of their older music, but without distortion. Stephen said he was the only one on the band who really wanted it on the record lol.
What's the other rocking song? We Are Destroyer, Dissenter... Velvet Covered Brick? The opener is definitely the best of the lot. Dissenter really is just ugh.

Yeah, Velvet would be the only other song I would throw in that category.

This still rules so much. The amount of times I must have listened to Atonement and Harbinger alone must be at least in the thousands haha

That's interesting that only Stephen wanted Losing on the record. I wonder what kind of B-sides they have for this, then. Either that, or they just wrote the 10 songs they wanted on this, and everybody else wanted to write a different one than Losing it All.
I wonder if they will do another B-sides album like Lost Songs after everything is said and done with the tour and whatnot.

I really like Velvet. I think the verses are great. The chorus is workable, though I wish the guitar riff weren't the same exact one from the intro

Hearing Voices gives me hard nostalgia tbh

@Ecnal, yeah actually the Anberlinlyrics tumblr page is full of cool little notes from Stephen. Like he agrees 'Alexithymia' has a too-repetitive chorus.
And yeah I'd love to hear the B-sides. They released one, didn't they? I didn't actually listen to it but I think it was acoustic.
@Mongi haha I don't know about thousands but yeah I've listened to this a lot. It's definitely a lot better than it was when I first listened to it. Definition of a grower

Thousands is a lot, Mongi, ha ha.
I dunno, tox. Besides the b-sides from Vital, I don't think I have really heard any of the stuff cut from their full lengths since they did Lost Songs. I've been on the tumblr before, but it was when he was only up to descriptions for Cities, I think.
Yeah, the chorus to Velvet is what drags it down. His vocal melody just doesn't really grab my attention like the intro did without him singing. Maybe if they would have changed the backing part on the chorus away from the intro, it would have worked better, too. Either way it probably would have been better than the end result.

Ok maybe a bit of an exaggeration but I've listened to them a lot haha

@toxin: The riff in the chorus isn't the same as the intro. Also I feel that the chorus is perfect in that song because it's not this big unleash of energy but rather it's just a build up that at the end the instrumentation finally lets out a bit of that energy and by the end of the song (the final 30 seconds or so) there's a real pay off and the song just soars.

Ok, it isn't quite the same as the intro, but it's really fucking close, ha ha. Either way, it has pretty much the same feel. I just don't think his vocal melody is very interesting on the chorus.

And I think entirely the opposite.

I respect that.
What's your highlight(s) here, fallen?

Velvet Covered brick (second favorite Anberlin song btw)
Hearing Voices (duh)
We Are Destroyer (one of their best openers)
All of them
Basically its really hard for me to pick highlights because I love them all with Losing It All and Dissenter being my least favorites.

Aww dude Dissenter is awesome! Losing It All and Birds of Prey are definitely my least favs. I believe I've already said my favorites though ;)

Never said Dissenter wasn't awesome but it grew off me a bit recently. It has it's moments though.

I just can't get into Stephen's 'harsh vox' on Dissenter. If he would have done something more along the lines of his screams in the original Feel Good Drag, I might have been on board. And it really just doesn't fit with the rest of the album either. Granted, I disliked it before I heard the rest of the album, but after I listened to the whole thing, I liked it even less.

I love his vox on Dissenter. They come off as an aggressive spoken word style to me in that song.
