I do believe he had an idea about a followup for this, they themselves even stated that they had started working on number 2 back in 2018. It's bound to happen eventually, if not under this banner than a spiritual successor under Devy's name.

Feel like dev is the kind of guy to be happy he did something once and move onto the next new thing

Finally listening to this for the first time. I'll be honest, only ever knew it was a Devin Townsend project and figured it would be prog metal, had no idea it was a country project

The first five tracks had me literally in awe and thinking this was going to be an all time favorite. Dropped off quite a bit after that, save Bones and The Bridge. Everything else was still quality for sure, just didn't quite hit the same heights as that opening. Curious to see where this ends up on subsequent listens!

Second best thing Devy has ever done after City.

Remember listening to this with a group of mates on a summer night in 2015. Gathered around a fire on a beach and drinking badly mixed mojitos. Great times

Second half simmers a little more but they are definitely growers. At this point I can't imagine the first half without the second tbh, but I had the same thing as you dmathias when I first listened to it.

First five songs on this are amazing and I can dig them from start to finish on most occasions, the 2nd half is more of a 'depends on a specific mood I'm in' if I want to invest in listening.

I mean, I can see people saying this album is longer than it should, but that is not the same as it being bloated

Not a difficult thing to do

This is not better than City, no way, and I'd even say City is a little overrated. Sucks that's the only syl I really care about too. Idk, I've felt nothing for Townsend's music like 2012 and onward and I hate saying that.
