Hey Aiwaz, not much. In Vermont with my dads gf’s family celebrating Txgvng, and hoping to get to the good record stores in Burlington tomorrow to pick up Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and Homogenic.
Stupid Dream used to not do much for me but now it’s my 3rd favorite Pt, it’s like 60s psych pop meets what they would do right afterwards, like Lightbulb Sun and the non-metal parts of In Absentia.

Song probably has a link to public transport as well I imagine.
Wilson bloody loves his trains.

I always thought it was about a psychotic doctor or surgeon who operated on his victims after killing them or something out of a twisted feeling of love. The drilling is him drilling into her brain to perform brain surgery to bring her back to life, or something along those lines. The internet seems pretty split on the meanings. There's also a major disconnection with reality and an almost hazy, dreamlike state of the killer that relates to the atmosphere of the song.

So this has some interesting song-writing moments & more than decent musicianship, as does Deadwing. Is their earlier stuff a significant departure from this?
