it's even, but black skinhead wins for being a general much better song.
|
| |
that reminds me people should check out the interactive video for that song on his website
actually pretty funny to mess around with the speed, it's kinda scary
|
| |
i didn't get the point of the interactive video

While I obviously don't think it was done on purpose, I think it's pretty funny that the only part Kid Cudi has in this album is that line in Guilt Trip where he's like "If you love me so much why'd you let me go?" right after he broke ties with G.O.O.D music

Black Skinhead is the only song I REALLY dig on here.

Black Skinhead is one of the Sotys

blood on the leaves is the best here, for real. the sheer audacity to sample something as culturally special as strange fruit to describe some petty hollywood dramatics is amazing.
|
| |
it could have made for a brilliant track but the auto tune is horrible, and the lyrics don't fit the atmosphere that
the haunting voice in the background is trying to establish.
i completely agree with this. blood on the leaves is the most skippable track on this album for those very reasons
|
| |
It is one of the best
the lyrics don't match, but that's sort of Kanye's thing, juxtaposing his lyrics to the music (except for 808s), and the autotune is fine, there's way worse if you ask me
Also there's no way Blood on the leaves is worse than I'm In It or Send it Up

yeah, i'd assumed that the sample was intentionally contrasting, as a way of accentuating the
disparity. though, as with most of the record, i can understand hating it for precisely that reason
still.
|
| |
the autotune is so unnecessary. the production on it is so good that the voice ruins it. send it up is pretty bad too tho. i don't mind i'm in it because i like justin vernon's part a lot
those two are the only ones i don't really like. other 8 are solid tho and include some of his best
|
| |
I like it because this is essentially an analysis of Kanye's character more so than any of his
previous albums; the lyrics are the most depraved he's ever made but it's so nonsensical and silly
it's endearing, there's a lot of dichotomies going on
this has some of the worst tracks i've heard all year though which makes it probably the most mixed
bag album i've heard in a long time
|
| |
No one's saying that, but fact of the matter is Kanye is a more complex person than you're giving
credit man, most people are complicated, and Kanye has a way of expressing through his music (a lot of
musicians do of course)
ESPECIALLY worth noting since his mother died. It's not hard to tell that the dude was pretty affected
by that (take a look at this lol: http://rapgenius.com/Kanye-west-blood-on-the-leaves-lyrics#note-

i don't know man, it does often cross my mind that maybe kanye sometimes just does shit blindly in his
music without thinking of the repercussions and we're all reading for profundity that isn't there, but
you don't have the kind of career he's had without a lot of intelligent forethought.
