Good ambient is as interesting as it's ignorable. The first aspect is missing here

That's literally Brian Eno's take on ambient

From Wikipedia:

Eno opined that ambient music "must be as ignorable as it is interesting."[13]

I really think the first 4 songs are really nice. Like the sax parts too. But there is just too much chugging and nit enough memorable vocal lines on the other songs imo.

I liked the live versions on Odyssey/Scala, because they felt way more organic and s9me fat was trimmed from songs like Singularity. However all of their singers struggled with this album's vocal lines. They're just damn hard to pull off in a live setting

Ambient stuff like Pygmalion by Slowdive is amazing imo, but Altered State works best when it's catchy imo.

They're undeniably using elements of ambient to craft their own brand of prog metal / djent and they succeed imo. (I just don't happen to like it very much, but it's a unique style)

Ambidjent = ambient. If this record sounded more organic it would possibly be a 5 for me, this is super interesting musically, the live performance they have on YouTube is fucking stellar. Everything sounds (or is, looking at you drummer boi) midi sadly...
