Nice special fx. But the film missed everything that was so good about the original.
The film should be congratulated for starting/popularising the trope of, and demand for, dumb american action/sci-fi films.

Even when limiting myself to popular modern American cinema, I prefer Clarice Starling, among others. But of all time, all the world, all genres and styles of film-making? I doubt Ripley would make my top 50.
