I'll only consider this a classic of the decade if it's re-released next decade and every single album released in those ten years scores under a 2 out of 5

Saturdays=Youth is still this band's best moment IMO. I just love the 80's city summers driving at midnight feeling it has.

Holy crap how have I never commented on this album before? This is a middle of Summer, night walk album. Album full of great diversity

Dead Cities is great. How does one love that album and hate this one? A question for the ages.

Not really as this is crude and throwaway synth-pop bobbins whereas Dead Cities was way more atmospheric and leaned more towards a post-rock direction.

Agree this is average - guess I should try Dead Cities then
|
| |
This has some weak songs simply because of its length, but this is easily their best album
|
| |
yeah without a doubt. esp the bookends
|
| |
Zola Jesus sounds like the black woman in a 90s dance track and that gets extra points from me
|
| |
Dead Cities has some amazingly good stuff but I feel like some of the songs start to sound a bit formulaic after a while, which is partly due to that post-rock leaning. Even though there's simply too much on this album and not every song is a winner it has a lot more variety.

"Wait" is gr8, should prolly check this in full
|

Enjoying this on the first couple spins but yeah "Wait" is by far and away the highlight, at least as of now. Song is a hard 5 whereas my initial impression of the full album is in the 3 to 3.5 range

Gave this a full listen after a long time. I can understand the 5
