Sonically I could hear quite a bit of Sabbat (UK) in Maelstrom, but to be honest, I can't get down with the songwriting (which I found rather sloppy), the riffs don't really stick out all that much to me and the vocals are not all that great (and vocals, to me personally, can make or break an album if I really end up disliking the vocals).
Again, this is how I personally experienced it.

I love the album cover, it's disproportionate to the quality of the content unfortunately. Having said that I can't even remember what I didn't enjoy here. I get the feeling it's a 'token' 3/5 as well, may have to check.
